Our Sweet Story

Pure Vanilla Bakery & Café is a neighbourhood favorite rooted in the heart of Estevan Village in Oak Bay, Victoria. We are a from-scratch bakery that has been a part of the local charm for nearly 25 years!

Tucked on the corner of Cadboro Bay Road, our café has long been a place where locals gather for simple pleasures done exceptionally well — a great cup of coffee, a perfectly baked pastry, and a moment to slow down.

Owned by Audrey Alsterberg, Pure Vanilla was built on the belief that quality ingredients, time-honored techniques, and genuine hospitality never go out of style. 

From the beginning, the focus has been on baking in-house, using organic ingredients whenever possible, and creating food that feels both comforting and elevated.

Every item in our bakery is made with care — from flaky pastries and cakes to savory lunches prepared fresh daily. Our café is designed to feel welcoming and familiar, whether you’re stopping in for your morning coffee, meeting a friend for lunch, or picking up something sweet to take home. Our fantastic sunny patio out back is a wonderful spot to take a break from a busy day.
